Picked up a few items today, this hanging lantern came out well, but will be the last made of black clay, they light up so much better when made of white clay. Hoping to dare to try porcelain soon, that might glow fantastically if I can master throwing it.
Fireflies
The first decent sized pitcher that I’ve made.
Good firing, picked up these 6 tankards – they are for my son and his roommates, all graduating from college next weekend. Sort of a parting gift as they go their separate ways in life.
They each hold a 12 oz beer just right, thrown from just under 2 lbs of black mountain clay.

After spending a week looking for the right hanging wire, I can report that Ace still is the place with the helpful hardware man! Was finally to hang these new lanterns properly and put candles in them, had to wait until dark to really appreciate them. I’m very happy and can’t wait to get started making some more – definitely a summer patio item. These are hung under the umbrella at the table, will make a great addition to a warm evening outside.
Time for some more cups so a late night handle pull was in order. I am finally getting comfortable with handles, they can be difficult. Practice makes perfect.
Working on some mugs, but needed a warm up piece, so decided to make one more piggy bank. I think the next one might get eyelashes instead of eyebrows.
First of the new hanging lanterns. A trip to the hardware store is in order to purchase some chain – lighting a candle while suspended with kite string is probably not a good idea 🙂
The lantern on the right is large enough for a votive. My goal is to work on more of these larger pieces.

More little piggy banks. Needed to add eyebrows, although I’m not entirely sure that pigs have eyebrows.

Updated 5/29: I am slowly but surely getting this site figured out. Have switched WordPress themes an finally got the header looking somewhat like I want it. Now just need to get the gallery page thing sorted out.
